Difference Between Religion and Spirituality

Religion and spirituality are often used interchangeably, but they are not the same thing. Religion refers to organized systems of beliefs and practices that are typically associated with a particular institution or community. Spirituality, on the other hand, refers to an individual's personal relationship with the divine or with something greater than themselves.

While religion often includes elements of spirituality, spirituality can exist outside of organized religion.
